The traditional Dayenu is 15 Verses. My modernized Dayenu contains 12 Verses, representing the stages of Christ’s condemnation and execution, but not the ressurrection. I do not know why I was called to write it like this, but it simply felt right.
If he had come as a child and not spoken with wisdom, it would have been enough.
If he had spoken with wisdom and not healed the sick, it would have been enough.
If he had healed the sick and not forgiven the sinner, it would have been enough.
If he had forgiven the sinner and not fed the hungry, it would have been enough.
If he had fed the hungry and not calmed the storm, it would have been enough.
If he had calmed the storm and not wept with the grieving, it would have been enough.
If he had wept with the grieving and not carried the cross, it would have been enough.
If he had carried the cross and not spoken forgiveness, it would have been enough.
If he had spoken forgiveness and not risen from the tomb, it would have been enough.
If he had risen from the tomb and not walked with the lost, it would have been enough.
If he had walked with the lost and not promised his return, it would have been enough.
If he had done all these things and no more, it would have been enough.
It all would have been enough.
